Please help!
I didn't do the good clean up job the other day that I normally do! I went into my garage and noticed mold growing at the bottom of my aluminum kettle! The pictures shown is after my attempt to clean it with star san. Any ideas on what I can do to make it safe to brew again...
I've seen Ninkasi at the Fred Meyer in Tacoma by Cheney Stadium.......Also when I was in Seattle on Pike Street, I saw they had it at a bar on the waterfront........
I usually pitch the yeast at 65*-70*........haven't had any problems....
Also, do you ferment in a carboy? Make sure it's covered or in a dark environment if you do otherwise you'll skunk the beer!!!
Personally, I wouldn't. They way I see it is pressurizing the keg will keep an air tight seal so no bad stuff will get in your batch. I think there are other ways of carbonating a keg without co2
After reading other forum post I discovered that 20-30 minute steeping time will work alright with the specialty grains that you have. Just put the grain in a steeping bag and bring the water up to 155*f-160*f. Cook for 20-30 minutes and remove the specialty grains. Afterwards, bring the pot up...
Didn't you get a recipe with your kit? I'd cook the grain and oatmeal for an hour at 160 deg F for about an hour, before I'd add the malt extract and hops. After the hour, remove the grain and oatmeal, then crank the wort up to a boil then add the malt extract.
