    Anvil Foundry Mash Eff

Thanks again. Makes sense. I'll be more scientific until I get it figured out. In general I'm not a detail person. I'm a cook, not a baker, and that's carried over to my brewing.

    Anvil Foundry Mash Eff

The world of partial mash / extract brewing didn't require anywhere near that level of precision, so I'd never really thought about it. Thank you all. I'll go through that process before I brew again.

    Anvil Foundry Mash Eff

Thanks for the above suggestions, guys. I'll build on this with my next attempt. Lots of details. I thought I was ready to go from extract to all - grain, but there's more to the switch than I anticipated, even with an all in one system. I am pretty sure my volumes were as much a problem as...

    Anvil Foundry Mash Eff

Yeah, I have a vague idea of what some of the above means. By efficiency all I meant was that my gravity seems lower than it should be, and that's what I thought efficiency meant. I don't know enough to know what I'm doing wrong, and I guess I'll just have to soldier on and figure this out on my...

    Anvil Foundry Mash Eff

I recently bought the Anvil Foundry as a way to move from extract to all grain. I've run two batches so far, and efficiency has been low - but at this point I don't know what I don't know. I don't have enough experience with all grain brewing to know where to begin correcting the process...

    Easy beginner recipe recommendations?

I did Adventures in Homebrewing's (www.homebrewing.org, click on recipe kits and you'll find it) Bells Best Brown Clone kit for my first batch and thought it turned out great despite numerous mistakes on my part. I guess I'd call it a very forgiving recipe. I chose it because I love Bell's Best...

    Show Us Your Label

I would bet the success of ovals, elipses, and circles has to do with the curvature of the bottle and some sort of asthetic flow. 90% of the labels that I've designed are circular in nature.

The Red Ale is bottled and about ready, so I'll be labeling tomorrow. The Brown is going in bottles on Friday night.

This label is for my SWMBO... I told her I was going to brew a beer for her, and she said that she wanted a cool label. She's likes to listen to vinyl records so I figured this was perfect.
