Thanks again. Makes sense. I'll be more scientific until I get it figured out. In general I'm not a detail person. I'm a cook, not a baker, and that's carried over to my brewing.

The world of partial mash / extract brewing didn't require anywhere near that level of precision, so I'd never really thought about it. Thank you all. I'll go through that process before I brew again.

I did Adventures in Homebrewing's (www.homebrewing.org, click on recipe kits and you'll find it) Bells Best Brown Clone kit for my first batch and thought it turned out great despite numerous mistakes on my part. I guess I'd call it a very forgiving recipe. I chose it because I love Bell's Best...

I would bet the success of ovals, elipses, and circles has to do with the curvature of the bottle and some sort of asthetic flow. 90% of the labels that I've designed are circular in nature.

The Red Ale is bottled and about ready, so I'll be labeling tomorrow. The Brown is going in bottles on Friday night.

This label is for my SWMBO... I told her I was going to brew a beer for her, and she said that she wanted a cool label. She's likes to listen to vinyl records so I figured this was perfect.
