    Good coffee porter yeast?

I'm following an old recipe I had from nearly a decade ago and the yeast I have in my notes is Safbrew S-3. I can't seem to find this anywhere, and the closest thing is safbrew s-33 which is a high ABV yeast and I'm thinking that is not the yeast I used back then. Anyone have any...

    Hopii Tabletop Brewing System

Anybody hear of this? I got a sponsored FB ad for their kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/498363780/hopii-your-personal-micro-brewery) It's a 3l brewing system where you can buy kits or make your own wort and ferment in the enclosed system. Has temp regulation and the like and...

I have 10lbs of honey. Simple recipe?

A guy at work does some beekeeping and is selling me 10lbs on the cheap. Looking for a super simple, tasty recipe that can be done in 4-8 weeks. Preferably one that doesn't require me to go buy tons of ingredients. Is 10lbs honey enough for a 5 gallon batch?

    Best Beer Tracking App?

That's the one I actually read about, figured I would get some community input and I think that'll do. Thanks fellow homebrewers!

    Best Beer Tracking App?

Read in a beer magazine recently that there are apps to track the craft beer you drink, some that let you rate the beer so you know to buy it in the future if you liked it. Any free recommendations? I use iOS currently.

    Worst Craft Breweries

Interesting. Which ones have you tried? Their Loose Cannon is hands down one of my top beers and that's coming from a guy who isn't crazy about IPA's. Their Imperial Stout and below deck were enjoyable as well. To each their own.

What volume of Co2 during fermentation?

I've made a few batches of EdWorts apfelwein - 5 gals store bought apple juice, 2-3 lbs of sugar (3 lbs in most recent batch) and using Red Star Montrechet yeast. After ~4 weeks of fermentation, the product is still foamy/lightly carbonated straight from the carboy, as I assume it's still...

    Yeast for Peach wine?

+1 on cotes des blanc however the 2 times I've used it, it's has come out very dry. I Would suggest checking it during fermentation to maintain the sweetness you want.

PHEW! Too much sugar??? (Edworts Apfelwein)

Just an update in case anyone is interested. I made a "starter" with the ec-1118 by pouring some apple juice (fresh from the container) into a separate, sanitized bottle, rehydrated the yeast, dumped it in and covered it and let it sit for a few hours while I stirred it every once in a while...

    Repitching dry yeast....

Sorry it's Edowrts Apfelwein. Never had one stalled but I did store it in a slightly colder area than usual since I didn't want it getting blasted with heat when the winter weather came around and the ac kicked in. I usually get it below 1.000 easy and it's typically extremely dry. This is very...

    Repitching dry yeast....

I have a batch at ~9 abv and 1.008 fg which is too sweet. I think my yeast has stalled as it's been 6 weeks and steady for several days. I moved the carboy to a new, warmer location and will continue to check it, however if it doesn't restart I'm going to re pitch ec1118 (originally used...

    Repitching dry yeast....

Currently have an edworrts batch at ~9 abc and 1.008 fg which is too sweet. I think my yeast has stalled as it's been 6 weeks. I moved to a new, warmer location and will continue to check it, however if it doesn't restart I'm going to re pitch ec1118 (originally used Montrachet). It's a dry...

PHEW! Too much sugar??? (Edworts Apfelwein)

I've made 3 batches so far this year, which all came out great. Only difference was the amount of sugar and because the winter months started rolling around, I put it into my admittedly colder laundry room so it wouldn't be blasted everytime the heat kicked on. My guess is that's why it stalled...

PHEW! Too much sugar??? (Edworts Apfelwein)

Can I repitch the ec-1118 dry or should I make a starter?

PHEW! Too much sugar??? (Edworts Apfelwein)

The applejuice has 27g sugar per serving, 16 per 1 gal bottle so 2160g sugar per 5 bottles and I added 3-3.5 lbs of sugar. If my math is right that comes to 3519 to 3745 grams of sugar total in the original batch. If my math is right that should be an og of 1.071-1.076. Current FG is 1.008...
