What size batch is the original recipe?

I am wanting to bottle in a larger bottle with my next batch. I would like to use a champagne bottle. Any advice on this? Do I have to cork it or can I just use caps?

I have a new recipe that I want to try out. It is a 5 gallon recipe and I want to make a 1 gallon batch first to make sure I like it. How do I convert the recipe? Is it as sample as doing 1/5 of everything?

What could I plant in that can be moved? We will be buying a new home next year.
