I found out the sanatizer I was using wasn't worth a flip 02 power cleanser no rinse. It grew miold right in the cleanser bucket. I've switched to star san and haven't had another problem yet.
Will this ever be drinkable? I have 3 batches that are 6 weeks and taste sour. I kegged it at 4 weeks and saved the trub because I knew something was wrong. I've got plenty of kegs so I can sit on it as long as it takes. But is there any need to keep it?
I've been fermenting in them for almost a year now. It really depends on your yeast but most of the time I fill to the top of the texture. Probably a little over 4 and a half gallons. I have 3 about done now an us05 and 2 1007 and my blow off bucket water is clear.

The one on the right is a bad pic, It's used mash and the flaked corn is all over the grain but it looked like the one on the right to start with.
I'm going to buy a mill, but I still need a pic if anyone has one.
Will someone please post a pic of what properly milled grain looks like.
I'm new at this.
This is what I got home with. I called the guy and he said he wasn't trying to make corn meal just crush it. I emailed him pics but haven't heard back.
The one with the corn is a cream ale, the corn...
Yep as soon as the new wears off they don't get much use. i think it's a convience thing. It takes too long to fill them up.
I've threatened to tear mine out, but now I gotta rethink that.
I pull the curtains and it stays pretty dark in there. Wife made them out of some thick stuff.
Water jug? yep! Did some research on that via this forum, no worries.
I haven't graduated to all grain yet. This is batch no. 9 and the first time I ever poured a batch on top of a yeast cake. came back 2 hours later and it was putting like a lawnmower. Fastest startup I ever had, faster than the yeast starters I used. But I am still new at this.
Brewcuzzi...
We never use this jacuzzi room anymore so why not:D. I closed off the vent and it stayes 65 in here all winter. 45 gallons so far and it makes clean up easy. Sure am glad I got a good wife.
thanks JoJo. I was born in Oregon, my dad was up there working on the columbia river projects. Beautiful country.
