I have the same freezer and six fit perfectly. I have the CO2 tank on the outside, just easier to monitor that way.
This seems to be the ideal size for my consumption and ability to have enough choices on tap along with my mini fridge full of other craft beers.

Nothing crazy here. 18.5" WSM, since this picture I added handles to the side of the body to make it easier to lift when I need to add coal. I wish I would have bought the 22.5" version.

You could do what you say but it certainly won't meet code. If you do tap into your gas line you should at least add a good shut off valve. Your burner is also made for propane so if you have natural gas you will need to do a conversion...
In my neck of the woods a snakebite is also called a black apple. Strongbow and Guinness is what is usually poored.
I think people can get drunk on them quick because they go down so easy you might tend to drink a lot of them in a short amount of time.
