    Mangrove Jack's M02 Cider yeast

I like the flavor it brings. It leaves great aroma and produces a pretty good ABV. It ferments at room temp. As well it works fairly quickly. There is yeast nutrient in the packet already mixed in with the yeast it self. One Packet does six gallons so if you do small batch you will need to...

So I forgot how long to wait after treating cider with camden before I can pitch? I was able to get to the "Apple Harvest Festival" in Fortuna up near Eureka. I t was great, a lot smaller deal than I thought it would be. However I got 5gal of fresh pressed cider that was filtered but not...

Oatmeal Stout a good first try?

Thanks all for the input. I really like oatmeal stout and a Dutch beer by the name of Grolsh. From the Grolsh bottle style fame. I would love to learn to brew some thing similar to it. Any way I am glad to finally be able to look at doing some beer in addition to my cider. Great hobby to add to...

Oatmeal Stout a good first try?

Thanks for the response. I have been wanting to do this for years and over Christmas 2012 my niece talked me into starting with cider. So a few runs of cider and now I am really wanting to do a beer. I always understood that it was very involved and you needed a lot of equipment so I didn't do...

Oatmeal Stout a good first try?

Have a few ciders under my belt and am wanting to finally do a beer. I am comfortable with the fact that extract is a very viable way to brew. So the main question is two fold, first is a oatmeal stout a reasonable first beer? Secondly what do I need to have to get started with an extract beer...

I suck at math! Help please?

No worries I didn't take it that way. Thanks for the response. I just didn't know the calculation so you helped and I just feel silly that it was a simple subtraction.

Well the fishing has slowed and I broke the Jeep so I time to work up another batch.

The Mangrove Jacks is good stuff. I ferments kinda quick. About 5 days. It likes the temp 65 - 70 degrees. It is also very aromatic. Smells great during the ferment. It even makes the fridge smell like very appley cider just from the bottles being in there. It seems to be able to produce about a...

    Mangrove Jack's for first cider

Wow this actually turned out to be some good stuff. I will defiantly make it again. After the second fermentation due to my own stupidity I bottled and let it sit about 3 to 4 weeks and wow!:drunk: I think the second fermentation gave it a good kick.

I am in N. Cal or as I call it "The PRK." That is The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. The lack of rain has put a hurting on the fishing, especially the Steelhead. We have had some rain now in the last week. And I am watching the local reports if they turn on I will be out there 8wt in hand.
