My first "good" brew :ban::mug::ban:

I did this in a Mr. Beer fermenter so thats why the batch size is so small. You will need to adjust boil size and time for larger batches.

Batch Size: 2.2 Gallons
Boil Size: 2.5 Gallons
Boil Time 40 minutes.

Malt:
3lbs Briess Golden Light DME
6oz Crystal 80L

Pellet Hops:
1/2 oz Cascade @ 40 mins
1/4 oz Cascade @ 15 mins
1/4 oz Cascade @ 5 mins
1/4 oz Cascade dry-hop for 4 days

Process

Cooled and pitched half a packet of Safale US-05. Fermented for 11 days at approx 66 deg. F.

Primed with 1.7oz of table sugar dissolved in just enough water to fully dissolve then boiled to sanitize.

Bottled in 16oz Grolsch swing-tops. Carbed the bottles for 14 days @ 72 F. Refrigerated for 5 days @ 40 F.

Delicious. Very close (I think) to Flying Dog's Pale Ale. Malt profile could use some more roasted flavor perhaps and maybe some CaraPils to help with head retention but overall, awesome for my first 'drinkable' brew xD xD

Hows the hop aroma? I love Flying Dogs Doggie Style, it has great cascade aroma/taste. Any reason for only 1/4 oz dry hopping? That just seems kinda low to me, even for a half batch, for an attempt at a clone

Aroma is good, but not a smack in the face. This was originally supposed to be a "plain old Amber Ale" thats why I only went with 1/4 oz dry hop. However, I don't think the malt and hops are balanced enough for that - its more hoppy so I think it falls under Pale Ale.

If Flying Dog's PA is the name-brand standard then my brew is the "generic store brand" lol. It tastes like Flying Dog's but its not as robust - more mild if that makes any sense.
