How long can milled grain be stored?

I apologize if this has already been discussed... I checked the faqs and tried a search but couldn't find an answer.

How long can I keep milled grain without losing quality? What is the best way to store it to keep it fresh?
 
Sorry but do milled and cracked mean the same things?

I bought a couple of pounds of cracked crystal and pale malts that are out in room temp but I have a freezer I could put them in.!:tank:
 
I'm finding that grain storage won't be the concern I thought it was.The more you have the more you brew!!!I got 160# of grain 3 wks ago and i'm down to less than half that now:D .It's not crushed(yet)though;) .
