I have been using whole hops for most of my brewing until the last couple years. It seems that some varieties are hard to find in whole nowadays so I'm using more pellets.
My boil kettle is a keggle with a false bottom and has worked well with both hops as long as I use a decent number of whole hops to cover the false bottom.
I'm old and was getting tired of lugging the keggle BK around especially since my batches are down to 5-gals now and only fill it less than halfway. My Son bought me a new SS 8-gal BK with a flat bottom and I'm in need of advice on what to outfit it with so I can use the two type hops together. I grow some hops so I will always be using some whole hops along with pellets. What's your advice brewers?
