I ordered a spare temp probe wire when I got my Auber cube, the original failed a while ago, and spare is acting up now. Usually temp reading creeps up past any believable level, sometimes gives no probe connected code. Got though last brew day by messing with it occasionally.

I took end apart and the connections look OK, so I guess wire must have parted somewhere.

I could get some more of the same ones, but does anyone have a recommendation for something more robust? I am careful with them, but I do take down my system between brews, so they are not stationary. The wire I have has a white cloth braid & 3 strands.

Can I just use low volt household or CAT 5 cable? Or is temp probe wire something special?

It depends on the type of probe. if it's an rtd, then the wire type isn't critical as long as all three conductors are same length/gauge. If it's a thermocouple it needs to be the appropriate wire material for the type of thermocouple.
