I thought this might be an interesting thread for any first time hop growers who are trying to determine what “normal” hop growth is for a 1st year plant. And what to expect in subsequent years. Total growth in any year obviously depends on a LOT of factors. But hopefully my series of pictures here will give a little context to the old saying “First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap” with regard to hop plants.
Here is my Alpharoma plant at approximately maximum vegetative growth in years 1,2,& 3 respectively. If anyone else has a series like this to share please feel free!
