Last night was my first extract brew. I've been using no boil kits for a while now and wanted to switch to extract.

I boiled the water and removed it from the heat to at the dme. As I started to add the dme I touched the corner of the bag to the element and poof up goes the bag. Slight panic watching the flame on the stove and the powder on the floor I put out the fire, RDWAHAHB, cleaned the rock hard mess on the floor and continued to make a 4 gallon batch instead of the 6 I had calculated.

I just hope that the 4 gallon batch isn't too bitter because I used all the hops but 15 minutes less boil time.

Cheers!
