Chris Mackney committed suicide on December 29, 2013 because his ex wife was using the divorce courts in America to torture him and kidnap his children from him. He wrote a 4 page suicide note before killing himself.

LATEST UPDATE: The ex-wife is such a psychopath that is she trying to copyright her ex husband's suicide note, in order to prevent it from being circulated on the internet. She is using her lawyers to threaten legal action against websites that published Chris's suicide letter. She is trying to silence him, even in death.

The website "A Voice for Men" also got a letter from her lawyers and wrote an article about it yesterday:

UPDATE: A Voice for Men's lawyers have responed to Dina Mackney's (Chris's ex wife) lawyer's letter:

It's really hard to understand the whole situation without some sort of timeline of what he has gone through.

Damn.....

I live in Fairfax County too. Remind me to move if i ever get a divorce.

Can we can the MRA stuff? What a load of crap. White power links next?

It's a shame when anyone chooses to take their own life. It's a bad choice and it hurts everyone around them. When they use that event to strike back at someone, they're a bastard, at best. And if you think their suicide note is going to be an objective description of the situation, I can't help you.

This guy killed himself rather than have any chance to be a father to his daughter, or continue to fight this in court. I don't know his wife or the details of the case (and I won't be getting them from MRA sites), but she didn't do that, and the courts didn't do that. And blaming this woman when you don't know anything except that he wants you to think his suicide is her fault... I mean really?

All that said, if an MRA wants to self-immolate, I guess I've got a light. It's a despicable ideology, and it's despicable people who follow it, abusers and would-be abusers. Examine your ideas about who is and is not oppressed very carefully before you fall for it.

Move NOW! Worst county in the state, overpriced, overtaxed, overcrowded, corrupt police, corrupt lawyers, corrupt politicians reside there. I'm in Culpeper County and avoid Northern VA like the plague :mug:.

Wow, just...wow.

I realize there can be a lot of bad blood in a divorce (especially when cheating or abuse are involved), but I don't understand why people have to use the divorce proceedings to completely destroy each other psychologically, financially, etc. Seems much easier on all parties to just get it over with and move on with your lives, especially if kids are a part of the situation.

Moral of story: Don't marry some woman if she comes from a family with a shady mob-like past. Chances are great that she's just like them even if she puts on a good front and she'll turn on you some day.

That's what I was thinking, aside from the suicide note, I'd like to read about the events that led up to all that, not just the aftermath. Anyone have links to that ?.......

agreed, suicide is the most selfish act I can think of, especially where you have children involved

Something else that should be noted is that this is a very interesting first post on a homebrewing site.
Considering the content & host sites for the links provided, I have no choice but to question the story.

Whatever the full story, the suicide note leaves me with a heavy heart. Even if it is only half the story and a quarter of the truth, this man wanted to be a father and from what I can see, that right was denied. We live in a world where parents abuse their children, leave their children, and even worse, kill their children. When you have a man who just wants to be a father to his children and that right is denied, it leaves me speechless.

I don't know the whole story and not one of those links is going to give it all to us but the fact that the ex-wife demanded control over everything posted and clearly has unlimited resources to silence her ex-husband in death suggests there is some truth to her abuse of purported power.

I do not think the note is an objective description of the situation and I don't think anyone should believe that. He ran out of options as far as he was concerned. His kids will suffer even more now and that is the saddest part of all of this. That, in it of itself, is the selfish part.

Unless you're reading court records, you're not going to get facts. This went viral because it has ideological support.

Using copyright to control the suicide note is pretty dubious, but a quick google search (or just looking at the links above) will tell you she has pretty good cause to be concerned for her personal safety as a result of what he put in his suicide note--especially given the sort of people who get excited about this kind of thing--so I'm somewhat sympathetic to the attempt.

I had a friend do this same thing, taking your own life is not the answer, but depression is a terrible thing.
His wife left him for someone else, kept the house, the kids, and he couldn't afford to hire a lawyer to fight the courts, so they drug him through the ringer. He finally had enough, some of these situations can be really sad, and I think unless you are the one going through this type of thing, it is really hard to completely understand how terrible it can be.

That's an excellent point and something I didn't notice. Looks like some MRA figured out homebrew dads are fertile ground for this kind of thing. I say this as a homebrew dad who is not, but then again I don't say "SWMBO" either.

lol. Going south to lets say Prince William or even Stafford County would be suicide by traffic. I work at Ft. Belvoir and my commute is 5 miles. I actually like it up in Northern VA. I agree on the overpriced, overtaxed, overcrowded but the police are just annoying and corrupt lawyers & corrupt politicians are everywhere.

Its pretty clear the OP has some kind of personal interest in this, no other reason he would sign up on a homebrewing site and post something about a divorce and suicide. This thread is closed. OP, please don't repost this or anything else until you respond to my PM. If you don't respond within two days, I'll close your account.
