hi guys, i found in the market a normal water boiling kettle (its 8G in size!) its used mainly for boiling water via electricity. Can I use this to brew? aka i want it to boil the starting water and then i add the DME to it and what not. let me know. thx

Without knowing what element is in it or if it is going to be directly touching the wort I can't really say. It can ALWAYS be an HLT that's for sure.

Cheers
Jay

Hot liquor tank ... basically just heats the water( liquor) then it's transferred to mash tun / boil kettle etc.

HLT is the hot liquor tank. In a typical three vessel system a HLT is used to preheat water to be used in the MT (mash tun) where the fermentable sugars are extracted from the grain.
