Hi all,

First time grower, will be first time brewer. Lots of questions about both, but i think i'm off to a good start.

My father-in-law and I are doing an experiment and growing 25 hops plants (8x columbus, centennial and cascadian, 1x mt hood). I attached a picture of our setup. We're hoping the market for hops in BC is good right now and we will potentially continue expanding next year.

Of course, since we are growing hops, we might as well try our hand at making some batches of beer with the hops. Here is my list to start (am i missing anything?:
* outdoor propane single burner - $90 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=316&search=burner
* 9gal pot - $126 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=370&search=pot
* FastFerment Conical Kit - $130 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=868 (comes with strap and thermometer)
* hydrometer - $6 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=250&search=hydrometer
* hydrometer jar - $3.30 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=251&search=hydrometer
* bottle capper - $40 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=253&search=capper
* large spoon - $6.99 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=859&search=spoon
* bottle cleaner - $15 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=222&search=star+san
* strainer bag - ??- muslin bag - $6 - 24x24 http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=233&search=bag or
or 15x8 - $5 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=232&search=bag
* thermometer - comes with fastferment kit
* refractometer - $65 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=288&search=refract
* All Grain Kit - $25 - http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=925&search=grain+bag

I am not Celiac, but some members of my family are, so I'm also interested in making GF beer from Sorghum.

He nice hop garden there! But the look of the photos I would say you are in the interior somewhere. Greetings from the Sunshine Coast. I see you deal with Hopdawgs a lot. How are they? I have been ordering from OBK.

Looks like you got yourself a nice setup there. I am pretty new here myself but this has been a wealth of information for me. Several of the top 100 recipes listed here have worked out great for me.

Cheers!

It looks like you're planning to BIAB. You list a 9 gallon pot. I don't BIAB, but from what I've read, that seems small for a 5 gallon batch. Maybe some BIAB brewers will post.

Welcome.

Yes, I am just north of Kelowna. The weather has been perfect for first year growing. A bit of rain, lots of sun and a bit of wind.

Hopdawgs has been great so far. I've emailed a ton of questions since i'm new and Matt responds extremely quick. I haven't quite ordered anything yet though. Is that OBK as in http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/?

I will start with BIAB, but will end up putting together my own grain to beer recipes fully. Just wanted somewhere to start. It sounds like with a 9 gallon pot i would need to watch the temperature plus keep a water spray bottle on hand. Would it be big enough for not BIAB? (whatever that is)?
