DIY Counter Flow Wort Chiller turbulence wire

Just about have my build list put together for a straight pipe counter flow chiller based on this style:

But will be using PVC as the outer pipe instead of copper pipe and 20 feet of 1/2" M type copper pipe for the wort side.

I commonly see counter flow chillers with a copper wire wrapped around the inner pipe to help create turbulence which should cause more cooling water contact with the wort pipe. Here is an example:

Anyone have experience with and without the wire in their CF chiller? Does it improve cooling that much or more of a pain to install then what its worth?
