I am helping host the 3rd annual Patterson Park 5k and Homebrew Competition which benefits Patterson Park Public Charter School (A Baltimore City Public School Pre k - 8th Grade). This year its being held on December 2nd 2017.
The days event starts at 11am with a one mile fun run and 5k in Patterson Park in South East Baltimore. After the race we have a post race beer garden with live bands, food, raffles, booze wheels and most importantly homebrew tastings and a competition. All taking place right across the street from the park
Last year close to 500 people came through the beer garden and interacted with over 20 brewers - most brewers were able to serve out to the adoring public the full 5 gallons they brought. Its a great place to get feedback and talk about brewing to a very beer friendly crowd.
And if that is not enough - we have some great prizes this year. Mark Supik and Co a local woodworking tap handle company (they make many local tap handles -their biggest client being Duclaw brewing) will be making tap handle for the winners that double as trophies. We have also teamed up with a local homebrew store to offer equipment, swag and gift cards. All said we will have over $500 worth of prizes to give out and are working on a couple special best in show bonuses. We will have at least 10 different prizes broken down to broad style categories with winners being chosen by the tasting public.
Sign up is absolutely free and gains entry to the beer garden for the brewer and a friend. Each brewer will also get a free event t-shirt.
We had 21 brewers last year and have opened up 25 slots this year. At this time we have about 10 slots left.
