All the pieces finally came together yesterday in harmony... Not a drop of propane was used in producing this recipe..
For as much new equipment as I have, I was really impressed how smooth brew day went. I now mill my own grain, all three kettles are electric, and I use a plate chiller instead of an immersion chiller.
I saw an overall efficiency of about 66% but the recipe was over 20% cereal and adjuncts and that is better than I've done in the past with wheat/oat type beers. I noticed that I had quite a bit of flour and the husks were slightly tore up, so I'll readjust the mill from 0.037" to 0.039" for my next batch - which will currently be a 100% Barley malt recipe. The mash stuck once, probably due to the oats, but I pumped sparge water backwards under the false bottom and re-floated the bed successfully!
I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of brewing drama... :rockin:
