Hi all,
I sent away my CoB water for a Ward Labs analysis (test W-6 $21.00) see www.wardlab.com for more info. The water was pulled on 12/30/13 and was filtered thru an in-line RV charcoal filter (http://tinyurl.com/lkmrs4q) that I use for all brews.
Here is the analysis:
pH 7.4
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Est, ppm -- 36
Electrical Conductivity, mmho/cm -- 0.06
Cations / Anions, me/L -- 0.5 / 0.4
Sodium, Na -- 7
Potassium, K -- < 1
Calcium, Ca -- 3
Magnesium, Mg -- < 1
Total Hardness, CaCO3 -- 12
Nitrate, NO3-N -- < 1 (SAFE)
Sulfate, SO4-S -- 1
Chloride, Cl -- 6
Carbonate, CO3 -- < 1
Bicarbonate, HCO3 -- 10
Total Alkalinity, CaCO3 -- 8
I was surprised at the water softness. I'll be doing some water adjustments next brew for sure. If I recall correctly, Bethlehem uses multiple sources of water throughout the year so I might do another sample in the summer.
