So I never really thought about this before but I'm using a lager yeast and I've had a starter going for two days now at room temp. Did I just screw something up?

Very unlikely you messed it up. While I've read that lager yeast can't survive at high temps like ale yeast I believe it also said the temp was above room temp. RDWHAHB.
