Moving to 10gal AG - Ferment?

All,

I want to move from 5 gal AG to 10gal AG. What do I ferment in?

two fermentors -- I just split my 10 gallon batch into two 6.5 gallon buckets

Drill a hole in the lid and add a grommet/airlock. They hold around 13 gallons. Same exact product that Austin Homebrew sells as the "Brew Cube"

EDIT: It is the 50lb unit with lid on top, not the 40lb in the link.

Are you worried that these are plastic?

That's what I was planning on doing. How do you ensure that there is enough yeast in each bucket or does it not matter?

Not at all. Better bottles are plastic, 6.5gal buckets are plastic, etc.

I usually make two starters in 1/2 gallon mason jars, one for each.

I'm also close to starting 10 gal batches. Any other ideas for a solid fermenter? I would rather not have to use 2 carboys

These 10gal SS conical fermenters are way expensive.....

I've seen a lot recently in other boards mentioning adding ranking arms and dump valves to these...

I'm digging this. Might have to dip into my 'Vegas fund' and grab a few of these.

The link I posted directs to the 40lb stackable ones. The correct one is the 50lb with lid on top. Sorry.

been using these for years they come in black so light isn't a problem. Cleanup is simple if you also use a liner.
