Default Major foam. Silly me?

I just threw some powdered oak from a wine kit into the red ale I have in primary, (pitched friday night). My God, after ten minutes, the foam is now at the top of the primary bucket, which means I have some 20 liters of foam... I moved the thing into the sink.

Why would it go spazzy like this?

Nucleation sites, my boy. Powders have very high surface areas and gave the CO2 lots of ways to come out of solution, fast. Pour an ale into a very clean glass and compare the head to pouring into a paper cup.

Ahh... of course... that's interesting. I suppose I'll never know which answer is correct!

If you can't tell the difference between soap and oak, maybe you should just save yourself some money. I'm certain the soap flakes are cheaper than French Oak powder.
