All,
I am new to having a refractometer and I am seeing quite a bit of difference in the FG compared to my hydrometer. I zeroed my Refracometer with my RO water. The wort sample was taken from the hydrometer beaker. The wort sample was 66*F. The hydrometer read 1.014 and the refractometer read 1.022. That is quite a diffference am I doing something wrong. I took 3 samples and cleaned it each time. The beer doesn't taste sweet so I am apt to believe the hydrometer.

You need to adjust for FG with the refractionmeter. I use BeerSmith, which has a tool that calculates FG from refractionmeter for me. There are websites that can help as well, but I have never looked for them.

You have to correct when measuring FG on a refractometer because of the presence of alcohol. I use Brewzors calculator on my phone.
