Scottish Ale 60/- Recipe Feedback
So I'm getting a light scottish ale recipe off a HB website and it seems like it's missing something to me:
3.3 lb. Gold liquid malt extract,
1 lb. of Light DME,
4 oz. Brown Sugar,
12 oz. Crystal 40L,
4 oz. Chocolate Malt specialty grains,
8 oz. Maltodextrin,
1 oz. Tradition pellet hops,
Dried Oak Chips
Muntons dry yeast
It says it should have an OG of about 1.04. This leaves it at about only 3-4% ABV. So I want to up the ABV and increase the malt a little.
I was thinking about maybe bumping the Crystal malt up to 1.5lbs (or just adding another 8-10oz of carapils or some other light malt) and bumping the brown sugar up to about 8 oz. Is this overkill?
