Anyone looked at this? I just had a gander today. They will be making cash hand over fist! It's really quite ingenious. It's mesmerizing, it's something I MUST try to saty away from! I always lose when common sense is a necessity! :tank:

Just read through their QuiBids 101, has some interesting stuff to say, plus always nice to get a MacBook Pro or 1billion inch TV for $.75!

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't trust such sites. It seems too good to be true. I want someone to try it that I know and then tell me how it went for them. Can you try it and let me know? Thanks. LOL

It's no con. A 1c bid costs 60 cents whether you win or not. It's a way to make stupid people poorer. They can sell an ipad for 10 bucks and be in profit at .60 per 1 cent bid.

Not the kind of thing to get involved in without looking at it a lot first to see how it works.....Maybe I should stay away.

This is the kind of innovation that made America great! (Unlike that crappy cheese in plastic wrappers, Meaty) :D

Edit: I just saw a 16gb ipad go for 47c plus $16 shipping. I want one!!

I signed up on a deal to get a bunch of free bids. I burned those free bids quick trying to get other bid packages. I guess it's a timing thing.... I never went back to buy any bids.

Looks to me like it would be best to bid on the ones that have already peaked. Pay more, but lose less bids. I dunno though, still watching. I havn't seen an ipad go over $30 yet.

I may give it a go if I get drunk enough...Yeah, that sounds like a winning plan! :mug:

Wait, so you spend $0.60 a bid; "someone" (aka, quibids computer) outbids you, so you bid again @ $0.60, over and over and over?

Yep!! That's why I reckon it's best to bid at the higher level, say around $28 for an ipad to lower the amount of bids against others (Or the quibids computer)

Hey, I'm not recommending this site, I'm just finding it fascinating! :p

It does seem feasible to get an ipad for about $100 or much less after all the fees etc

With all the OCD shop-a-holics out there - I wonder if the common man can ever get a deal...

The people on that site are the ones hanging outside of Wal-Mart 30 hours before black friday starts...

That being said; there was a sweet "deal" on a digital SLR! :D

Like I said earlier. It is a great site to make stupid people poorer.......Which is why I'm not jumping in myself just yet. Clint told me that a man has to know his limitations! :fro:

so at 47c that is $28 bucks not bad...
but if the bid goes up to say 50c and you re-bid to you pay for the total of the bid $30, or just the 3c increase from your first bid

I call bull****....

Watching one now for the ipad. The count-down "clock" resets to 0:20 seconds everytime someone bids...

Socialism at it's finest!!! LGI get's an ipad for $0.47; the company gets paid full price, because the rest of us spent $0.60/bid! :D

BTW, I'm not a socialist per se. I advocate capitalism with social responsibility. Take it to the debate forum where I will ignore that thread. ;)

no, no, no, no - I was not putting a political spin on it!!!! Seriously - I was just pointing out the socialistic concept of you getting a product for cheap because we all paid a small amount for it. :p

So, LGI, have you won anything yet? :D

I have no idea. Beezid advertises with Sirius, and I've had friends e-mail me links. I'm guessing a year or two.

Either way, American genius at it's best. This is the kind of thing to keep the money in circulation. :)

Edit: there goes another ipad for 98c plus $16 shipping.

I've yet to bid, though I've been tempted. Seems a bit like the internet's shell game to me.

I think that sums it up the closest, but it's not quite a shell game. It's a game of skill, and they say as much (More or less) on the help page.

I think they should have advertised this site better by saying it is what it is rather than presenting it as an auction site.

The format has apparently been around for a long time. A brief bit of Googling reveals that penny auctions were likely first popularized during the Great Depression as a means to avoid foreclosure. Other names for the format include "all-pay auction" and "bidding fee auction." Look up Shubik's "dollar auction" for a bit of rationale as to why the format may be quite successful.

A bit more Googling shows that there are likely hundreds of sites attempting to become successful with bidding fee auctions. It also shows that there are a fair amount of scams mimicking the idea. Be careful with your money and emotions if you decide to get involved.

I think "Emotions" is the key word there. This is where they make the cash. This is also the reason that I have not used this site yet. I know and understand that my emotions are a train wreck waiting to happen! :fro:

Also, it just goes to show there is nothing new under the sun. Thanks Yuri! :)

I just read a blog with all the tips about this site. I would highly recommend doing that. I'll look for the link. Basically its legit. I'm not sure it should be legal, but if you prepare yourself you'll do fine. #1 rule I took away, only bid on things you actually want and will pay full price for. That ways you minimize your risk in a big way.
They offer a Buy It Now option on most items. If you expend too many bids, or are running out of time, you can use all you "used" bids real value to buy it now at retail. This means you don't lose the money you spent on bids.
There are voucher bids which cannot be used for buy it now so they have less value. Do your homework and you might get a good deal by having some uninformed gamblers pay for your Ipad.

Well... decided to just give it a try. Won two autions each for 15 dollar Home Depot gift cards. Paid 60 cents for each, plus 2 bucks S&H. If they come and work, I'll give the rest a try. I agree with what JNye said. I think the key is to not try and get into anything you are not prepared to pay full price for. Also, don't let emotion make you keep bidding. In just watching these I saw some bid wars that seemed to just be out of spite.

a coworker of mine has been trying to get an Ipad for about a month. Last week he said he was in about $120 and still hasn't won one. He said that he will occasionally get outbid by an Administrator.

i can't recall the name, but i came across one of these type of sites about 5-6 years ago. i used up all my free bids and "someone" outbid me about half a second after i bid every time, regardless of the time. if i wasn't so paranoid, i could see it becoming very addicting to the right type of person.
