Anybody ever used a 2 liter soda bottle to culture a yeast starter?

What size stopper will fit a 2 liter bottle?

I don't see any reason not to use it, like any other vessel make sure its completely cleaned and sanitized. Not sure what size stopped will fit but you can just put foil loosely over the top to stop things from falling in.

You can use anything you can sanitize. I have made 6 quart starters in a 7 quart plastic food grade jar - had protein powder in it.

If you don't use a stir plate its probably better to use a container that is very wide (flat) so that the starter has as much air exposure as possible. A big sanitized tupperware container with tin foil over the top works well.
