Historic Gobbler Mild Ale (brewed on Thanksgiving day!)

This was easy, at least. Billed as easy drinkin' session English Mild.

5# maris otter
3# pale malt
0.5 black patent
0.25 chocolate


8.75 lbs grain, mash with 3.25 gal water
Strike 164
Temp at 60 min 150
Sparge 4.5 at 179
1.5 oz Fuggles (6%?) 60 min
Irish moss 15 min
Chill, pitch Danstar Nottingham yeast at 80
about 6 gallons, had to leave a little in the brewpot
OG: 1.040 - currently bubbling away in primary

Fresh Hop Ale
From hops grown by the garage. Didn't have a AA%, so I just used them all.


5 lb 2-row
½ lb wheat
2 lb C60

8 quarts 165 water added to grains, mash x 60 min at 154. Sparge 4 gallons 170. Add about 4 quarts of boiling h20.
1 lb Amber DME 75 min
8 oz fresh nugget hops 60 min
1 lb amber DME 60 min
8 oz fresh nugget hops 60 min
2 oz fresh cascade 45 min
1 lb amber DME 45 min
3.3 lb gold LME 30 min
7 oz fresh nugget hops 30 mon
2 oz fresh cascade 30 min
3 oz fresh nugget 15 min
1 tsp irish moss 15 min
½ oz whole leaf dried cascade 15 min
½ oz whole leaf dried cascade flame out
1 oz whole leaf dried cascade DH in secondary
OG: 1.074, pitch at 75 Wyeast 1056, 10/7/2011
FG: 1.020, Bottled 11/17
ABV: 7% - still conditioning, but supa-drinkable flat and room temperature during bottling.


O'Daniel's Kentucky Common
Tried to make it a partial mash, but miscalculated and overshot OG by 90%
Still good tho.

2 lbs 6-row pale malt
2.5 lbs flaked maize
2 oz black patent malt
2 oz crystal 80
3.7 lb light DME
1 oz cluster (10.25%) hops 60 min
1 tsp irish moss 15 min
Wyeast 1056

steep grains at 155 x 1 hr
add water up to 6 gallons, add DME
boil x 60 min, pitch at 72

OG: 1.073 (oops!)
FG: 1.014
ABV: 7.6%
Bottled 9/8/11
 
Thanks, good to finally be on here. How old are your vines? I planted mine two years ago, but this was the first time I really had enough to do anything with. Excited for next year's harvest.
