replacing my copper coil - jockey box

All,
I want to replace my copper coil in my jockey box and would like to know if 25ft of stainless will work. I am thinking either 1/4 or 5/16, is one better than the other? I can get the 1/4 with a wall thickness of .049, but the 5/16 is .020. I am thinking the thicker wall will make it safer to coil. Any other suggestions? Should I go 50ft?

I made a jockey box with 50ft of 1/4" ss. It ended up being close to 3/16" ID so there was a lot of restriction and have to use 40psi to het a good flow rate( which isn't a problem if you kick the keg within 12 hours). I don't think 25 feet of ss would be enough. It doesn't transfer heat as well as copper. If you search nybrewsupply on eBay they sell the stainless tubing at a similar price but will also coil it for you for a extra $5-10 charge. They coiled mine for me. I think it was around $100 for 2 50ft coils. I had them coil it the same diameter as their wort chillers and it fits perfect into my cooler.

Just checked my copper coil, it is 50 ft of 1/4 in. I typically don't detect the metal flavor from it, but with my kloch this weekend I did. It seemed to fade after a few beers
