This is now my fifth extract brew and I'm wondering if I haven't added enough hops given the high OG of 1.090.
It was supposed to be a dubbel pitched on the Wyeast 3787 yeast cake from the tripel I now have in the secondary. The OG is obviously very high for a Dubbel.
Here's the grain bill and hops
6 pounds light DME
2 pounds amber DME
1 pound Crystal Malt 60L
1 pound German Vienna
.25 pounds Special B
1 pound piloncillo (raw brown sugar)
Grains steeped at 150 degrees for 45 minutes.
1 oz. Northen Brewer hops 60 min
.5 oz Saaz hops at 20 minutes
.5 oz Saaz hops at 2 minutes
I have no program to calculate IBUs and I'm wondering if I should make a little hop tea and add it while it is fermenting (which it is doing vigorously right now).
What should I add and how much?
Thanks!
