6 week old starter

2 packages of 1056 stir-started has been sitting in fridge for the last 6 weeks. Since it cost like $15 I'd obviously still like to use it. I am planning a 1.078 OG PTE clone. Should I just rev it back up a little in the fermenter with some DME before pitching the entire batch? Or is that unnecessary?
 
I've run into this situation before. I decant the liquid off the top of the starter and make another starter with the cake on the bottom. Worked fine for me.
