IDIOT here was enjoying a fall day; boiling BB Holiday Ale kit w/ a friend. Per customary etiquette home brew was consumed; maybe to excess. By the time the boil was done I measured my OG at 1.12!! Wow; only supposed to be 1.07.
So proud of myself for magically getting more fermentables than came with the kit I was.:drunk:
Well after pitching and stowing away I had an epiphany. ******* took the reading on the 3 gallon boil; not the 5 gallon batch after top off. Uuugh.

Not wanting to risk contamination and besides its bubbling away; is there any fancy math or arithmetic (since Obama thinks they're seperate things) that I can use to calculate my real OG?

Cheers

5 gallons gives you an adjusted gravity of 1.072.

and just for the record, mathematics and arithmetic are separate things ;)

=((initial wort volume, in your case, 3*((gravity-1)*1000)/final wort volume, in this case, 5)/1000)+1
