Ok first post so be gentle :)

Planing on trying to build up a wheat IPA hybrid. I love the citrus and body from wheat but don't really like the Coriander that a lot of north american wheats have. Thought I would try to put together a wheat beer with citrus based hop flavors. Faily new to brewing. This will be the second recipe I'm trying to build myself. Started in October.

Hop choices are partially based on what I have in the freezer. Current set up only allows for 12l BIAB all grain.

1.50 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 46.2 %
1.50 kg White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 2 46.2 %
0.25 kg Munich 10L (Briess) (10.0 SRM) Grain 3 7.7 %
10.00 g Northern Brewer [8.50 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 4 16.9 IBUs
10.00 g Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 30.0 min Hop 5 18.3 IBUs
10.00 g Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 6 11.8 IBUs
0.15 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 mins) Fining 7 -
10.00 g Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 0.0 min Hop 8 0.0 IBUs
1.0 pkg California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) [35.49 ml] Yeast 9 -
28.00 g Cascade [5.50 %] - Dry Hop 7.0 Days Hop 10 0.0 IBUs

Est Original Gravity: 1.060 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.012 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 6.4 %
Bitterness: 47.1 IBUs
Est Color: 5.0 SRM

Looks fine to me. Whats the batch size?

You could stand to add some more late hops or maybe just move the 30min to flameout and try doing a steep/whirlpool/hopstand to get a nice pungent character from the citra

I love wheat in my IPAs

Batch size is only 3 gallons (12L) due to equipment limitations on the boiling side. :)

Hop timing and volumes and what the differences in the timing of late addition hops are probably my weakest understanding at the moment.

I wrote an article on these new popular IPAs that everyone is trying to replicate. It may be a bit over the top for a newbie, but it may be worth a look if you want to get some ideas (or at least my ideas) on hop scheduling. Its still on the front homepage of HBT, towards the bottom now

Looks good to me, and I love hoppy wheat beers. I might move the Citra in the boil to 20min and 10min additions, but that's more of a personal taste thing. It may drop the IBUs too low for what you're looking for, though. I am, however, beginning to decide that mid-boil additions of hops bring a depth of hop character that you just don't get from the "Throw it all in at the end" technique that seems to be popular. Good call on doing that.

Also, with half-ish wheat in the grist, I'm not sure your Irish Moss will do much good. I usually just leave it out of something like this.

Still tweaking things but I'm ordering my grains later this week. Hoping to brew on the week-end or early next week! :)

Now I made a new 5G mash tun last week and was trying to increase my efficiency with my sparging. Suffice it to say I screwed up my volumes and ended up with about 4L or 1G extra wort. Efficiency was still only about 60% but I think a lot of this has to do with the grind on the grains from the LHBS now. It is at least a large contributor. Long story short I ended with 15L instead of 11L as my final volume or 4G instead of 3G with a FG of 1.040. I wanted to do a session beer in the future anyways so I'm going to run with it. Just hope it doesn't end up being watery tasting.

It shouldn't be watery with all that wheat in there. The volume changes may affect your hop schedule though.

I was thinking that regarding the hoping as well. The bitterness ratio is still where I want it. I might up the dryhop still though. This entire thing is an educated experiment so at the very least it will turn out interesting on some level :)
