Found these mini "Whiskey Wood" oak aging staves for aging beer and other alcohol. I know some places that age beer in old whiskey barrels, and thats what these are. They are small staves milled from old whiskey barrels and come in a variety of toast levels from untoasted to heavy toast. They fit right into a carboy too and are so much easier to get out than oak chips, and age just as well.

"Other companies make oak cubes, which take much longer to age, but the long thin form gives these much greater surface area,"

I don't believe that without them listing any dimensions or weights. A single oak cube is about 1/2" squared, so the surface are would be 3"^2. There are about 34 cubes per ounce, which would be 102"^2.

Plus you can't get the same nice gradation of toast level through a thin wafer as you can with thicker cubes.

RiverDrive, you seem to be the seller of the staves you mention, which is fine of course.
Your link is not working though. Also can't find the staves on your site.
