hi all
so I have 15 lb of 2 row and 2oz of chinnook along with 1lb of citra laying around and I want to brew up something without buying anything.
any suggestions on a recipe ?
will be doing a all grain in my cooler.
also what effect does mash temps have in the taste?
normally mash in at 150 for a hour but would like a more malty taste.
thanks

I always mash my IPAs at 152-153, to give enough of a malty backbone but still not have them underattenuate. Yeast choice plays a part as well.

I'd second the toasting of a pound of two-row in the oven until toasted. You can use a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or so, or even a bit longer, as long as you watch it carefully and stir it occasionally.

Then use one ounce of the chinook for FWH and, an ounce of citra at 15 minutes, another ounce of chinook at 5 minutes and an ounce of citra at flameout. Dryhop with some more citra, or another hop variety. (I'm not a huge citra fan, but if you are, go ahead and dryhop with an ounce of citra).

I followed Yoopers recommendation.
ended up using 8 gal of water to end up with slightly over 5 in the fermentor.
I guess that 15lb of grain absorbed a ton of it.
used 05 yeast and its happily bubbling away this morning.
ended up with a OG of 1.066
