Hi All

I have been lurking here for a bit but never got around to posting. So far I have brewed an extract brew from Palmer's How To Brew and I would like to graduate to Partial Mash (eventually AG, when I get a bigger living space). Later this week I plan to grab a 5 gal cooler and make a mash rig similar to the one here. I also understand that I will need an additional pot to boil all my water, which I'll try and grab somewhere cheap.

I have formulated a recipe (mostly BierMuncher's Black Pearl Porter w/ some light DME instead of Pale Malt) and procedure which looks good on paper, but I am a newbie and I would like some veterans to give me the OK (please!). Anyway, here it is:

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. I'll keep this post updated with progress. Cheers, and wish me luck!

Doesn't look bad at all to me. I often mash around 6 or 7 lbs of grain and then add about 3lbs+ DME. Works great. You can mash that much grain on your stove without a mash tun, too. I personally would not bother with making a small masher when you can do it easily (and cheaper) without it. Wouldn't hurt, but I would just do the paint bag technique and build a real one when the time comes.
