So, what are the odds that I will funk up my entire kegging system by kegging up a batch of root beer? I am going to dedicate one of my kegs to root beer, so I won't be kegging beer in that one again. I will also be sure to keep my lines, faucets, connects, etc. seperate.

I have heard, though, of people putting check valves in the line from CO2 tank to the keg of root beer. Is it possible for the root beer flavors to migrate against pressure and enter my beer kegs. Is this an urban legend.

Anyone with experience kegging root beer alongside their homebrews?

An urban legend, but check valves are always a good idea. Soda can back up into your regulator, if it starts fermenting.
