Pretty close to my mash schedule for my bender clone. I did the Northern Brewer Bender clone.

It's delicious. I don't know how close it is to the original, I've never had it. But damn it's good :D

I routinely use volumes pretty close to those in my recipes--about 18q mash-in, 2gal boiling mashout, sparge to target volume.

I got the recipe from Northern Brewer and went to Midwest to get my grains. The guy helping me out used the same recipe and had a sample on hand, it was amazing.

I know this thread is 2.5 yrs old but I'm resurrecting it in case anybody else is interested in this recipe. I tasted this beer last month when I was in MN on a trip and fell in love.

I borrowed the following recipe from beersmith:

8lbs Pale Malt (2 row/2 )SRM
2lbs Aromatic Malt (26 SRM)
14oz Medium Crystal (60 SRM) *My LHBS did not have 55 SRM
14oz Special B Malt (180 SRM)
12oz Oats
6oz Chocolate Malt (350 SRM)

.5oz Willamette -FWH (60+ Min)
.5oz Columbus Tomahawk [13.9%] -Boil 60 Min
2.5oz Willamette [4.7%] -Boil 0 Min

Dry English Ale (White Labs #WLP007)

Planning on brewing this Fri, so hopefully all goes well. Surly Bender is a great beer so I'm pretty hopeful I can replicate something comparable! Cheers!

Thanks Boondocksaint! I'm gonna give this a try and add coffee to it. Just went to the brewery 2 weeks ago and had it straight from the tap. Their Coffee Bender is in my top 3. Just built this grain bill and will be brewing it in the next 2 weeks!

I brewed 10 gallons of bender in the fall..."dry beaned" half of it and put it on nitro. awesome.
