I brewed an American Amber Ale about a month ago. I wanted it to be my first beer in the keg because my poker night crew will drink it up quick and Im sick of washing bottles. Anyway. I got it in the corny and set the reg. to 30 PSI for the last 2 days. Today I lowered it to about 12 PSI. Does this sound about right? Also, do I need to blow off any of the gas in the headspace or anything? thanks for the help.

I do the same thing except when I lower the regulator to serving presure (12 PSI)
I also burp the keg down to below 10 psi...then raise it back up to 12 PSI.
that way I know it is accurate.

Since you've had it at 30 psi for only 2 days the pressure should drop down to what you've set you reg. to as the beer absorbs the co2 in the small space above the beer.

I don't quick force carb, but two days at 30psi should get you fairly close to normal carbonation if the beer was chilled to serving temperature.
