Hi there,
I have some experience making wine but I'm very new to beer making (2 extract batches and counting).
Does anyone know which type of LME the Morebeer ale kits tend to use? There's a listing of recipes on their forum that were posted in 2004 and most of them indicate something called Ultralight Malt Extract. Morebeer currently only sells Light (4L) and Pilsner (2L), which they describe as an ultralight extract, so I assume that this is what's included in the kits.
Odd thing is that when I plug one of their recipes into BeerSmith, e.g., American Amber Ale, I get an SRM of 8.8 but the product page for this recipe says it should be 12. Is that a meaningful difference, or am I incorrect in assuming their kits come with Pilsner LME?
Thanks for any help. I'm looking forward to becoming more involved with this forum!
