Since my Co2 tank is nearly empty, I decided to prime my keg of vanilla bourbon porter with a 5oz. packet of priming sugar from a pevious kit that I never used. Then I realized that you were supposed to use less sugar when priming a keg. Will this make my beer excessively foamy, or will it just even out when I put it on the Co2 at my serving pressure?

Most likely you'll be fine. Any excess CO2 will vent shortly after you tap and serve a few pints. At worst it'll be a little overcarbonated, and that will settle with time if you keep your serving pressure reasonable (10-12 psi max).
