Need a new submersible pump for wort chiller

My old pump was the cheapest of the cheap from Harbor Frieght, it worked semi-ok with a 25ft coil. I decided to upgrade my IC to 50ft and now it barely trickles through the copper coil. I have a feeling I would go faster peeing.


So without doing something that is insane overkill what are your experiences with something like this one? What would be the best way to throttle it? Stick a ball valve from a hose nozzle over it?

I assume you are using this to recirculate cold water through your chiller. It doesn't appear as if the Harbor Freight pump is a magnetic head pump so you really can't restrict the output with a valve without burning the pump up. I don't throttle it back because I just use it to recirculate ice water and I also have an 1/2" X 50' IC.
