should i strain my wort before i funnel it into the primary? if so, before or after i cool it down?

I strain my brew with the funnel. After cooling to pitching temp.

After cooling in an ice bath in the sink, I pour the wort through a strainer and into a funnel with a mess screen in it. Double filters it, so to speak. Of course, all parts and pieces must be sanitized.

Always wait for the wort to cool before transferring it to your fermenter. If you use a strainer it may get clogged and you will need to clean it.
