I've been using one of those orange Gatorade coolers to mash with for the past few batches. I recently got a new brewpot and want to up my batch size. I normally used around 10 lbs. of grain for a 4 gallon batch (5 gallon boil). I'm hoping to use around 13 or possibly 14 lbs of grain. Does anyone know the maximum amount of grain/water I can get into the cooler? I normally use 1 liter of water for every lb. of grain.

Thanks!

search around the forums. There are people who have posted links for calculators that tell you based on your equipment how high of a grain bill you can have

i will try to find a link

Yeah, there's a really handy chart for it that has been posted to a few different threads that can tell you exactly what you're asking.

My 10 gallon Rubbermaid will hold right around 22lbs of grain using roughly 1.2qts/lb of water.
