Now that I have 2 under 2 in the house, I revert back to extract brews for simplicity. I can bang out an extra brew < 2hrs for 5.5 gallons.
My hops are ready to go, so I'm making a fresh hop APA this weekend. The last few years I've notice that I lose a substantial amount of wort to the vegetable matter of nearly 2# of fresh hops.
Since I'm brewing extract this year, I wondered if I couldn't boil a gallon or 2 and saturate it with all of my extract or at least a majority, maybe 5# and freeze it, thawing it and adding directly to fermented after the boil?
I'd keep my gravity up by keeping it from the hops.
Any thoughts? Is this a dump idea just to save on a few pounds of DME?
