I brewed this kit once before and discussed some issues I had with it here.

While the instruction for the kit are less than perfect the results were pretty good. What I got from my first batch was a little low on ABV but it's quite drinkable.

So I'm preparing to brew again tomorrow and am wording if anyone has some better directions about what I should do. What I'm thinking about doing is following the direction up until the "sparge" in step 3. Instead of sparging I'll just take the grain bag and put it in the 3 gallons of 170 degree water for a couple of minutes and attempt a "batch sparge". The combine the two pots of wort and continue as directed.

Does this sound reasonable? Should the steep/mash continue for 60 minutes? Any other suggestions.

Thanks, Mike
