So here is the deal I have had plenty of pale ale's. some of them for some reason have a grapefruit taste to them the ones I brew taste more like a smaller version of an ipa. I was at two different micro brews yesterday out of town and they both had what tasted like grapefruit pale ale they both seemed to use cenntenial, cascade, amaerillo hops which are the same i use in my pale ale. WHERE IS THE GRAPEFRUIT TASTE COME FROM. is it a by product of the type of yeast. ferm techs ,or coming from the type and amount of hops . any explanation would be appreicated thanks

From the hops. Centennial, Cascade, Columbus, Simcoe all have varying degrees of Grapefruit/Citrusy flavor to them, and are the usual suspects with West Coast Pales and IPA's.
