Since there are such great hop prices at hops direct right now we're stocking up, and it also means that it's time for a DIPA. I read Jamil's article on hop bursting, which from what I gather is just adding a large amount of hops after the 20 minute mark in lieu of early addition hops to achieve a clean bittering with a massive amount of hop flavor and aroma. Anyway I ended up adding 3 oz of Simcoe as an early addition to get the amount of IBU's I wanted. Let me know what you think I'm really open to changing parts of the recipe if anyone thinks it needs it.

I'm planning on using a hop bag for most of the additions. Would there be any downside to just throwing them directly into the kettle at 0 min and leaving them in there until after fermentation is done?

Alright I did my reading, and apparently you lose a lot of aroma from the hops if there is co2 present while hopping. So, I'll just move the flame out additions to a dry hop addition and call it good. My roommate came up with the name after multiple home brews, and insisted that it have over a pound of hops. I did him one better with the 19 oz...maybe I'll throw an extra ounce in there just to round it to a nice even 20...I seriously doubt there will be a huge difference between this and a beer hopped with say 16 oz a 5 gal batch, but what the hell it'll just be fun throwing in a over a pound of the green....and crap I just realized I'll have to change the label to IIPA...or just fake the $#!+ out of people and leave it.
