Alright, here's the stupid question for the day. It's about inserting a link in my post. If I click the "Insert Link" icon it will display the actual URL in my reply. How do I display specific text I want instead of the whole URL? For example I'd like my link to say "Home Brew Talk" and point to an address instead of "http://www.homebrewtalk.com". Is there a sticky for "hey you're a forum posting idiot please read this first"?

Highlight the text you want to use for the description (e.g, HomeBrewTalk), click insert link, paste in the web address, click ok.

That's BBCode, not HTML, but the answer is to wrap the text you want displayed in a [ url ] tag specifying the address you want to link it to. Like this:

This is how you [ url=example.com ] make text into a link [ / url ]
