Sorry to thread rez, but I have to ask...... and I know this is a weird question, bear with me.
Where'd you learn to like Scotch? How'd you do it?
I mean that seriously. I've tried a few varieties (nothing nearly as elegant as posted above, but I have tried Glenlivet 12 and Jameson a few times) with an open mind, but I just have a hard time convincing myself to enjoy them. With the Jameson, I even wound up giving the bottle away to a friend.
I want to like Scotch. I like Americanized whisky (Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, my fave is Knob Creek) and I like Canadian whisky (esp. Crown Royal, I can put myself up all night with Crown & Coke)... I just haven't figured out how to "make the leap", so to speak.
Suggestions?
My favorite standard whisky drink is Sour, followed by & Coke, followed by neat on ice. I tried Jameson neat on ice, and just couldn't embrace it.
Sorry for the long post. Scotch, however, has had me curious for some time!
